Vocal Kakamega politician on police radar over deadly anti-Finance bill protests
Kakamega Member of County Assembly (MCA) Geoffrey Sikolia is on police radar for leading the Generation Z demonstrations in Kakamega town that left four dead and properties worth millions of shillings destroyed.
Sikolia a first-term youthful leader of Chimuche ward ward in Malava subcounty is also serving a suspension from the County Assembly over chaos that erupted in the assembly months ago and the matter is in court set for ruling on July 4, 2024.
He has not been earning salary for months since his suspension but the vocal Mca says he is not intimidated.
In Kakamega, the demonstrations turned ugly as the youth attempted to head to the statehouse office situated in Mlimani where also the home of the rulling Party united Democratic Alliance (UDA)secretary General Cleaophas is situated in attempt to raze it down before before anti riot police interventions.
The demonstrators headed to the Kakamega county offices where the set a blaze a vehicle.
Sikolia who confirmed notifying the police of the peaceful demonstrations said he has also heard of reports of plans to arrest him and says he is still waiting as he can’t run away.
The county deputy Governor Ayub Savula visited the victims injured in the demos condemning the police for the excessive forces used.
