Governor Kenneth Lusaka has intensified efforts to open up the county through strategic infrastructure development, marked by the launch of key link bridges aimed at enhancing connectivity and spurring economic growth.

In a series of engagements today, the Governor officially flagged off the construction of Musengโ€™ Bridge in Kaptama Ward, a critical link expected to connect Mt. Elgon and Trans Nzoia counties, easing movement and unlocking cross-border trade opportunities. He also launched the construction of David Wemile Bridge in Milima Ward, Tongaren Sub-County, a project poised to enhance accessibility between Tongaren and Webuye East, further integrating local economies.

Speaking during the launches, Lusaka reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s commitment to equitable service delivery, emphasizing the central role of infrastructure in driving socio-economic transformation.

โ€œWe are deliberate in our efforts to ensure that every part of Bungoma is accessible through reliable road networks and link bridges. This is key to improving livelihoods, facilitating trade, and fostering inclusive growth,โ€ he stated.

The Governor noted that the ongoing bridge projects are part of a broader countywide infrastructure rollout that has already seen similar initiatives launched in Chwele/Kabuchai, Tuuti Marakaru, Luuya Bwake, Bukembe East ,and Sitikho wards. He added that more projects are in the pipeline as the county moves to eliminate connectivity gaps and enhance mobility for residents.

โ€œAs a county, we are focused on building lasting infrastructure that connects our people, supports agriculture, and attracts investment. No region will be left behind,โ€ Lusaka affirmed.

In his capacity as the Western Region Presidential Re-Election Coordinator, Lusaka also rallied residents of Mt. Elgon to support President William Rutoโ€™s 2027 re-election bid. He expressed confidence in the Presidentโ€™s development agenda, noting that a second term would consolidate ongoing projects and accelerate transformation across the country.

โ€œPresident Ruto has demonstrated a clear commitment to development through tangible projects already visible across the nation. Giving him a second term will ensure continuity and the full realization of this transformative agenda,โ€ Lusaka said.

The bridge projects are expected to significantly improve transport efficiency, enhance market access for farmers and traders, and strengthen regional integration within Bungoma County and beyond.
