New audit team tasked to seal revenue leakages in Trans Nzoia

The newly inaugurated Trans Nzoia County Audit Committee has been challenged to offer strategic advice that will help in curbing of loss of public funds.

This, according to Finance and Economic Planning County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Dr. Pepela Wanjala, will include insuring of transition to digital financial systems and modern accounting standards to curtail wastage of public money.

Wanjala called on the team to support the secretariat in rolling out digital audit systems and enhance oversight of the electronic procurement (e-GP) system to seal revenue leakages.

The CECM described the audit team as a consciences of the institution adding they expected it to perform in order to stir the county to the next level.

Wanjala said this on Monday during the hand over ceremony at the County Headquarters where the outgoing Audit Committee chairman Levi Miheso Wendo gave the instruments of office to the new team led by Tulienge Ann Nangila.

While accepting the appointment, Nangila said her tenure will see the County technical shift from Cash-based to Accrual-based accounting under International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

She said the audit process should add value to service delivery promising to work with all other relevant stakeholders to ensure public trust is reflected in every finance decision made by the county
