Lusaka Urges Bungoma to Shun Violence Ahead of 2027 as He Unveils Development Scorecard
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has urged residents to shun divisive politics and maintain peace and unity as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations at Chebukaka RC Boys Primary School in Mukuyuni Ward, on June 1, Lusaka said political differences should not divide communities.
“We may belong to different political parties and support different leaders, but we all belong to one Bungoma and one Kenya,” he said.
The Governor also outlined key achievements of his administration, citing progress in healthcare, education, agriculture, roads and trade.
He announced that the county’s 300-bed Mother and Child Hospital is now operational, while a CT Scan machine has been installed at Bungoma County Referral Hospital, with plans underway to acquire an MRI machine.
In education, Lusaka said the county is recruiting 225 ECDE teachers and 135 vocational trainers to strengthen learning institutions.
He further noted that more than 22,500 farmers continue to benefit annually from free fertilizer and certified seeds under the county’s farm input support programme.
Earlier, the Governor led residents in observing a moment of silence for former nominated MP Patrick Wangamati and victims of the recent Utumishi Girls Academy fire tragedy, calling for stricter enforcement of safety standards in schools.
“The lives of our children are priceless. We must ensure such tragedies never happen again,” he said.
