Support Ruto re-election, scheme for 2032 State House takeover, Lusaka urges western Kenya

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on leaders from the Western Kenya region to close ranks, embrace political unity, and strategically support President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027, arguing that such a move would strengthen the region’s prospects of producing Kenya’s fifth President in 2032.

Speaking during the final send-off of the late Hon. Patrick Wangamati, the family patriarch of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, at Khachonge Village in Kabuchai Constituency, Lusaka said the Mulembe Nation possesses the leadership credentials and political capital necessary to ascend to the country’s highest office.

The Governor dismissed claims that there are forces opposed to a Luhya presidency, noting that the community has historically produced distinguished national leaders, including three former Vice Presidents.

“No one is against the Luhya community producing the President of Kenya. We have the numbers, the leadership experience, and the potential. What we need is unity, strategic planning, and a common political direction,” Lusaka said.

He urged Western Kenya leaders to rally behind President Ruto’s second-term bid, saying the region stands to benefit politically and economically from a strengthened partnership with the national government.

“Our immediate focus should be supporting President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027. If we stand with him now, he will reciprocate that support, creating a conducive environment for one of our own to succeed him in 2032,” he stated.

Lusaka lauded the President for initiating transformative development projects across the region, citing infrastructure, healthcare, and economic investments aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents.

In a major announcement, the Governor revealed that President Ruto is expected to officially launch the construction of the Sh8 billion Sichei Level Six Hospital in Kabuchai, a flagship healthcare project expected to significantly enhance medical services in Bungoma County and the wider Western Kenya region.

The county boss further challenged leaders from the Mulembe Nation to abandon divisive politics and embrace mutual respect for the sake of regional development and political progress.

“Political sideshows and endless rivalries among Mulembe leaders only undermine our unity and delay development. The time has come for us to set aside retrogressive politics, work together, and strategically position the region to produce a Luhya President in 2032,” Lusaka said.

He emphasized that political maturity and cohesion among leaders would be critical in unlocking the region’s full potential and strengthening its bargaining power on the national stage.

The burial ceremony attracted a host of prominent political leaders from across the country, led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, DAP-Kenya Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, Roots-Party leader Prof.George Wajackoya and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.

Also present were Senators Edwin Sifuna, Wafula Wakoli, Godfrey Osotsi, Consolata Wakwabubi, and Catherine Wambilianga, among other leaders and mourners.
