Sisi ndio Sifuna: Kakamega boda boda vow to protect ODM SG during rally
Kakamega County Bodaboda riders have vowed to protect Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna during his visit in Kakamega town on Saturday, February 21, 2026 during his Linda Wananchi rally.
Speaking to journalists, led by their chairperson Peter Ochango, they said it was high time for their members to offer security to Edwin Sifuna and his counterparts during their Kakamega visit.
They urged police officers to stay away from the rally, and if they have to come, they should not fire any tear gas because it may harm them and other people who will attend.
“Sisi ndio Sifuna, we will guard our son, and we don’t want interference from the police who will be deployed. “If the police come, they should give fair safety but not fire tear gas or live bullets, as was witnessed in Kitengela,” Peter Ochango said.
However, Ochango raised alarm on how the government has been treating the opposition saying it should give a fair treatment because they also pay taxes.
He alleged that people have seen goons wearing masks during rallies with the aim of killing and destroying people’s properties, saying that as bodaboda riders they will deal with anyone who wears a mask during the rally.
Ochango and his colleagues revealed that Kakamega is peaceful, unlike other regions like Kitengela. They urged residents to come in large numbers to cheer their own son.
“Sifuna is our son, and no one has the mandate to oppose his visit in Kakamega. We are aware that some people somewhere are planning to bring goons; please don’t try because we will be the brigade’s security personnel,” Ochango added.
The bodaboda riders also raised alarm over increased goons in Kakamega County. They urged those politicians whom people have suspected to be part of the organisers to spare Sifuna’s team because he will be coming to his home.
Further, the chairperson asked Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, Babu Owino, Godfrey Osotsi and other leaders who intend to visit Kakamega on Saturday to hold a meeting with them before addressing locals.
They said the meeting will help them raise concerned issues that are facing them in the country so that they can highlight them during the address.
According to Ochango, the bodaboda sector has problems, including police harassment and poor roads that have destroyed their motorbikes, among issues that they want Sifuna to address.
Ochango also added that poor leadership in the county government is also another threat that has derailed Kakamega County in terms of development.
“As he plans to come, we ask him to meet us before addressing the locals. We want to air our problems so that he acts as our mouthpiece to this government,” Ochango added.
