Disrupt Sifuna rally, we occupy your homes, Kakamega MPs seen at State House warned
Kakamega residents now want the 12 Members of Parliament who visited President William at State House to disclose what they agreed on, saying there could be a plot to disrupt Linda Mwananchi’s tour.
Speaking today in Kakamega town, residents led by Peter Ochango said they have information that the MPs were given money to organise goons from neighbouring counties, as far as Kisumu, to come and disrupt the rally.
“Those Members of Parliament from Kakamega who went to see President Ruto at State House must tell us what they discussed,” Peter Ochango said.
They said Edwin Sifuna and his brigade have the right to hold meetings anywhere in Kakamega insisting that any attempt to infiltrate and disrupt the meeting would make them to occupy the homes of all the 12 MPs.
At the same time, they claimed that a senior county officer had been tasked with mobilising goons to disrupt the event.
Further, they claimed that some top Kakamega County leaders have been in the limelight for mobilising goons against perceived rivals citing an incident in Mumias recently.
“The governor and his officers should protect Sifuna rather than harming him. We need peace as we wait to see our son Sifuna,” Ochango added.
Ochango’s sentiments come after Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and his Deputy Ayub Savula said that as the county, they won’t allow Sifuna in town.
These sentiments have irked residents who have warned security agencies to protect Sifuna from goons.
Ochango added that he will personally mobilise residents to attend the rally and ignore threats from the government.
“Sifuna and his brigade are the most intelligent people; as Kakamega residents, we will support them so that they deliver us from the brutal regime,” Ochango said.
On the other hand, the twelve MPs led by Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera dismissed the claims of planning to attack Sifuna, saying their trip to the State House was to strengthen their relationship with President William Ruto, which will benefit people on development matters.
“We met the president to discuss developments that are underway in our subcounties, nothing else,” Nabwera said.
