Don’t step in Kakamega: Governor Barasa, Savula warn Sifuna, tell police to ‘deal’ with his supporters
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and his Ayub Savula has warned senator Edwin Sifuna not to step in Kakamega County.
They said Kakamega people are in a broad-based government, and they will not tolerate the decision by the ODM secretary general to hold rallies in Kakamega.
Speaking in Kakamega town early today, the two leaders added that the police will not allow any gathering in Kakamega.
They urged residents to boycott the rally and wait for President Ruto’s tour.
“We will not tolerate Sifuna in Kakamega town. I urge security agencies in the country to stay vigilant because their intention is to cause mayhem like what was seen in Kitengela,” Savula said.
.
The Deputy Governor added that Kakamega County was in opposition for a long time and now is in government, and they are benefiting.
However, Savula revealed that Sifuna has no capacity to unseat President Ruto, urging him to collaborate with the president so that Kakamega residents benefit.
Further, Savula said as the county government of Kakamega, they have planned to rally residents not to attend Linda Mwananchi’s tour.
“We are ready to tackle the Linda Mwananchi tour; together with the security agencies, we will not allow them to step in Kakamega,” Savula added.
Governor Fernandes Barasa echoed Savula’s sentiments, urging Sifuna to call off his planned tour to Kakamega County, saying it is a security threat.
Barasa said the rally will sabotage business in the town. He called on the security agencies to deal with anyone who will attend the rally.
The governor alleged that he is aware that organisers will bring some goons to the rally to cause mayhem and blame it on the government.
The county boss also urged residents to stay indoors or continue with their daily business rather than listen to Sifuna and his brigade.
“I urge Kakamega residents to remain indoors on Saturday rather than listening to someone who has no developments,” Barasa said.
He rallied locals to support broad-based government as the only way to retrieve them from poverty. He said President Ruto has done a lot in Kakamega, and allowing Sifuna to poke holes in developments will not be tolerated.
Barasa said the ODM party has its genuine leaders, whereas Sifuna is an ordinary person. He asked Sifuna to resign from the party and focus on other issues rather than dividing it.
“The only people who are allowed to hold rallies in Kakamega town are President Ruto and Oburu Odinga; we don’t want the other faction that is being financed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Barasa added.
