Farouk Kibet camps in West Kabras, drums support for UDA candidate
Farouk Kibet Akhonya, who was accompanied by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, his deputy Ayub Savula, and Malava Member of Parliament David Ndakwa, today pitched camp in West Kabras Ward to campaign for the United Democratic Alliance candidate, Elphas Shalakha, ahead of the by-election to be held on 26th February 2026.
Barasa, who is the Orange Democratic Movement party county chairman, officially endorsed Shalakha, saying that the broad-based government under President William Ruto has resolved to work together for the good of the people.
Akhonya warned opposition figures led by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta against spreading hatred and tribalism at the expense of development, saying they should be investigated for their past economic crimes and the money they are using to influence a section of leaders to oppose President William Ruto’s development agenda.
Ndakwa, on his part, warned the electorate against selling their identification cards for money to individuals from the opposition led by former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, who is in the area campaigning for Democratic Citizens Party candidate Bramuel Khaemba.
The campaigns for the seat that was left vacant when Ndakwa was elected MP in November last year have hit fever pitch, with indications that the government candidate will emerge victorious.
