Wetang’ula delivers KSh50M good news for Bungoma creatives

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has announced plans to construct a talent and culture centre in Bungoma town worth Kshs.50 million to promote creative economy among youths.

Speaking during the Bungoma Talent Expo finale Wetang’ula said he will work with the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy to allocate the funds in the budget to fund setting up of the project for identifying and nurturing raw talent.

The Spesker noted that nurturing talent is nolonger a luxury but an economic venture which the government has invested resources in through the Department as a source of income for unemployed youths.

While congratulating winners during the three-day event sponsored by Senate Chief Whip Hon David Wakoli, the Speaker noted that if youths are given the right platform and support they can use their talents to create jobs, earn a living and promote peaceful co-existance in the society.

He added that participants in the talent expo have send a message that the raw talents wasted at the grassroots level shouod be identified and natured for the benefit of youthand committed to support the venture going forward.

Senator Wakoli noted that the event was designed to turn the raw talent into sustainable income-generating venture for jobless youths.

He added that the move was to supplement government’s efforts to turn the talent among youths into a resourceful activity.

He challenged the county government to allocate more money to promote talent among youths.
