They have no agenda, Ndakwa, Kibet slam Opposition

The unity of the Mulembe nation is key if it is to ascend to power after President William Ruto’s exit in 2032, having cleared his two terms.

The ongoing political squabbles between sections of Luhya young leaders directed at the region’s senior political class are bound to derail their presidential ambitions in favour of other interested communities.

The sentiments were echoed by Presidential aide Farouk Kibet and Malava MP David Ndakwa when they attended the burial ceremony of Good Munjalu Mufoya, a police inspector who was attached in Kisii and who died due to cardiac arrest, and who was laid to rest in Shirugu Mugai Ward in Malava Constituency.

Kibet said the country was being misled by senior leaders who have held top positions and who were sponsoring young politicians from Luhya land to rock the region’s political ship from within and scuttle efforts of the community producing a presidential candidate in 2032.

“We know who is igniting the ongoing ODM internal wars, and we know his agenda. If the Luhya nation does not distance itself from this leader, who is out to dismantle ODM from rallying behind William Ruto through their broad-based government in 2027 and instead wants them to join ranks with the central leadership to send Ruto packing in 2027, then they will be the ones to lose big time, as the current leadership is willing to support the 2032 Mulembe presidential endeavours as a return favour for their two-term support.”

The leaders revealed that plans were being hatched to push ODM out of the broad-based government through the use of Edwin Sifuna and his team, with Dr Boni Khalwale and George Natembeya allegedly being used to wreck Mulembe unity by hitting out at and de-campaigning against senior Luhya politicians who are steering the unity agenda ahead of the 2032 presidency.

He lashed out at former President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom he accused of fuelling animosity within ODM and pushing the party to walk out of the broad-based pact and field a candidate against President William Ruto in the coming general election.

He said the Mulembe people should be very sceptical of Uhuru Kenyatta’s manoeuvres, noting that he has sensed that leadership has shifted from the central region and is knocking at the Mulembe doorstep in 2032.

He accused him of trying to lure ODM to ditch William Ruto and field its own candidate, which would see the central region emerge as major beneficiaries as they seek to merge with ODM to fight Ruto’s administration.

He called for unity among all Kenyans, saying it was key to bolstering development across the country.

The newly elected Malava MP David Ndakwa called on upcoming Mulembe leaders to show respect to their dedicated leaders at the helm of leadership, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula and Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, who have continued to steer the interests of the Luhya community at the national level.

He warned that a plot was being hatched to ensure that the Mulembe nation fails to clinch the presidency and that those being used to see the mission flop were fellow clansmen who have continued to belittle and disrespect Luhya leadership.

Ndakwa warned of dire political consequences that will befall the Luhya nation if young politicians allow themselves to be used to cause divisions in the region’s political arena.

“It is unfortunate that the Mulembe political landscape is more of entertainment rather than power politics, as witnessed in other regions. We have continued to wash our dirty linen in public instead of supporting those at the top to clinch the highest seat. We have allowed ourselves to be used as hired guns to kill and bury our own political future at the expense of supporting and even voting for other communities to become leaders. It is time we awaken from this backward slumber and stand by our own sons of the soil, as they are the ones we have at the top in the meantime,” he urged.

At the same time, he warned Western leaders turned political turncoats to understand that the country’s political arena has gone back to its factory resetting following the demise of Raila Odinga.

“Ask yourselves why Luos have vowed to stay in the broad-based government despite calls from some quarters for them to leave and pick a candidate to vie against President William Ruto. They know that by staying in government, that is how close they are to the country’s leadership, unlike when they are outside, as before.”

He called on the Luhya community to grasp the reality of power politics ahead of the 2032 top leadership contest and stop being used as political deal breakers in favour of other communities.

“It is time the Luhya nation comes together to respect their leaders or perish politically, because once they lose the trust and support of William Ruto, they will slide back into the political oblivion they have always known. Through Musalia Mudavadi, that is how close the Mulembe nation is to producing the next president in 2032 — only if they stand united,” Ndakwa cautioned.
