Lets support Ruto as we plot 2032 presidency, Lusaka urges ‘Mulembe nation’

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on leaders from the ‘Mulembe nation’ to rally behind President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027 as it prepares to take over State House in 2032.

According to Lusaka, this is the time for the region to focus on building unity and a solid strategy for the 2032 presidential race.

Speaking in Soy during the send-off ceremony of the late Likuyani MP Dr Enoch Kibunguchy at Seregeya Primary School Grounds, Lusaka said the ongoing political wrangles among Mulembe leaders have rendered the region’s 2027 presidential ambitions unrealistic.

Lusaka faulted the lack of cohesion among Western Kenya leaders, warning that disunity has reduced calls for a 2027 presidential bid to mere political rhetoric.

He urged leaders to embrace one another, close ranks and speak with one voice if the region is to mount a credible national challenge in the future.

“You pass the ball to whoever is in the best position to score. You don’t just give it to anybody because they’re playing. If you’re not in a position to score, you retreat and strategize,” Lusaka said, telling off the Opposition to be realistic in its quest for the Presidency.

The governor’s remarks came in response to recent assertions by the DAP-Kenya Party leader Eugene Wamalwa  that Western Kenya is ready to field a presidential candidate in 2027 and would proceed to the ballot.

Lusaka dismissed the claim, insisting that without unity and a common strategy, such declarations lack substance.

He maintained that supporting President Ruto in 2027 while deliberately scheming for 2032 would give the region time to consolidate its political strength, nurture consensus leadership and enhance its bargaining power on the national stage.

Lusaka challenged Mulembe leaders to rise above personal interests, cautioning that unless they unite and present a cohesive front, the dream of producing a president will remain elusive.

The ceremony was attended by several leaders, including Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, DAP Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, Kakamega Governor FCPA Fernandez Barasa among others.
