Khwisero school feeding programme to continue, MP Aseka assures parents

Khwisero MP has assured his constituents that the subsidized lunch program for Day Secondary Schools will continue this year.

As the schools prepare to open their doors for 2026 first term, Khwisero Member of Parliament Christopher Aseka has affirmed that a subsidized lunch program for day secondary schools in the constituency, aiming to support students’ education will continue.

The program costing over Sh35 million will see parents pay only Sh1,000 per student per term with the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) covering the remaining costs.

Speaking to Khwisero residents in his constituency, Aseka emphasized the importance of education stating that It is the responsibility of leaders and the government to assist children so that they can learn.

“The program is designed to keep students in school, allowing them to focus on their studies and improve their performance,” Aseka said.

The MP also highlighted his office’s commitment to education, revealing that over Sh66 million has been used to support students through bursaries and scholarships.

He added that since 2018, 52 students have received full scholarships to pursue secondary education in national schools, while others benefit from support at various schools, including Mwihila High School, Emalindi Girls, and Eshibinga Secondary.

Aseka urged parents to instill discipline in their children, emphasizing the importance of respecting teachers and utilizing school days effectively.

“We will never allow and entertain any form of indiscipline in our schools,” he warned.

The subsidized lunch program is expected to benefit approximately 7,195 students in the constituency. NG-CDF Manager Bernard Misiko encouraged parents to pay the Sh1,000 fee to ensure the program’s success.
