Farouk Kibet, UDA leaders take over Malava, solicit votes for Ndakwa
President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet ‘Akhonya’ on Friday led a high powered team comprising area politicians in drumming up support for Malava UDA candidate David Ndakwa.
The politicians including Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe and his Lugari counterpart Nabii Nabwera and a host of MCAS campaigned in Lukova in Manda/Shivanga, Machemo (Chimuche ward) and Shianda in East Kabras Ward where thousands turned out to listen to the manifesto of Ndakwa.
It is becoming clear that Ndakwa may win the contest as his popularity rises following sustained political forays in the area by Kibet.
More than eight candidates were cleared to vie by the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission with DCP’s candidate later dropping his bid in favour of DAP-K’s.
The UDA candidate is enjoying popularity in the region, with heavyweights like Farouk Kibet, Musalia Mudavadi, Govenor Ken Lusaka and Speaker Moses Wetang’ula campaigning hard for him.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa’s presence in the area politics and his backing of Ndakwa could tilt the outcome in his favour.
