Wetang’ula, Nabwera Malava project rejected, warned to keep off
A section of Malava residents and political heavyweights affiliated to the UDA party have cautioned both Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera and Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula to keep off Malava politics and let them choose their preferred leader in the impending by-election.
Led by Shitsimi Sakaya and Musa Neto, they held a press conference to rubbish the Nabii Nabwera led meeting held in Shirugu Mugai ward that saw them supporting the candidature of Seth Panyako as the next Malava MP in the coming by election on a Ford-K ticket.
The leaders blasted Nabii for organizing and imposing Panyako on them saying he was political sellout having contested and lost twice in the constituency parliamentary seat.
Shitsimi asked Nabii to stop meddling in Malava affairs and instead concentrate on his Lugari constituency which he said needed him most.
“We as Malava people know whom we will back as our parliamentary aspirant and we have settled on Simon Kangwana as our next MP, we don’t want leaders from outside coming here to choose for us our next course of action.
“We are aware Nabii and Panyako are business partners who have vested interests and should not be dragged into the Malava political arena as the dice is already cast in favour of Kangwana (Simon) through the United Democratic Alliance ( UDA),” said Shitsimi.
He added that the shape and form of Malava politics will be realized by the UDA candidate who has the blessings of the electorate.
They said Kangwana was fresh and committed to transforming Malava to the next level.
His counterpart Musa Neto urged Wetangula to stop being dragged into Malava politics and instead be neutral and let the people decide by themselves.
“Malava people have fallen out of favour with Panyako for his arrogance and high handedness that saw him even abuse the presidency and UDA party before storming out. To us he’s an already spent cartridge which is no longer useful to the Malava people hence our loyalty and support to Simon Kangwana,” he muttered.
They said they will ensure that outsiders traversing the constituency to plant political stooges are stopped and give the residents to choose and elect a leader of their own choice.
We are calling on the electorates to stand firm and reject planted aspirants from other parties I clouding Ford Kenya which is now fronting Seth Ambusini Panyako as their frontrunner in the coming by election
They warned Nabii Nabwera against poking his nose in Malava politics and yet he had problems with his constituents back in Lugari.
They urged Wetangula to steer off the grassroot by election and instead concentrate on the coming 2027 general election.
The press conference was a counter to the yesterday’s Nabii Nabwera’s meeting where he alleged that the Malava people had send him to seek for them a suitable leader to take over the constituency following the demise of Malulu Injendi who was the area MP.
The meeting that was conducted secretly barring the press from covering saw a delegation led by speaker of the national assembly Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), Kakamega county women MP Elsie Muhanda,(ODM) Navakholo Mp Emmanuel Wangwe (Jubilee)Kakai Bisau Kiminini Mp (DAP Kenya) and Lugari Mp Nabii Nabwera who held a meeting at the former nominated MCA Mildred Waluvengo’ home in Lukala area Shirugu Mugai ward.
Just after 3pm,the entourage arrived at the home where over 500 delegates and about 200 public awaiting them.
Immediately after the arrival the Lugari Mp took issue with the media who had also come to cover the event ordering them to vacate the venue as he had not requested for their coverage.
The Media who had earlier been informed of the said meeting had visited the home and welcomed by the host and team Panyako who even disclosed the purpose of the visit to them and the possible outcome.
The leaders allegedly splashed KSh1 million to the attendees with delegates each walking home with Ksh 2,000 and the public Ksh.200 each.
