Edgar Busiega penetrates Malava as Ruto nominates IEBC boss

Barely days after President William Ruto nominated the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman and six other people in the position of Commissioners, politics has taken a twist with aspirants in Malava constituency taking it to a notch higher.
Lawyer and Advocate of the High Court Edgar Busiega, who is seeking to replace the late Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi, and his team have hit the ground visiting all the seven wards selling his agenda.
The team led by Brown Malanga attended a church function at Kalenda in Shirugu-Mugai ward before proceeding to Lunyiya in South Kabras ward, urging voters to rally their support towards Busiega arguing he has the interests of the people at heart and his administration will positively impact on many lives.
The team is said to have earlier on held meetings in Chimuche ward and Butali/Chegulo ward.
Ruto nominated Erastus Edung Ethekon for the position of chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Ethekon is from Turkana County.
In a statement, Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, said the President has also nominated six other persons as members of the commission.
These are Ann Njeri Nderitu (Nyandarua); Moses Alutalala Mukhwana (Kakamega); Mary Karen Sorobit, (Uasin Gishu); Hassan Noor Hassan (Mandera); Francis Odhiambo Aduol (Kisumu) and Fahima Araphat Abdallah (Lamu).
“This preidential action follows the recommendations of the Selection Panel on the recruitment of nominees for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, as transmitted on Tuesday, May 6, 2025,” Koskei said.
He said that in accordance with the law, the nominations have been transmitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval by Parliament.
