Residents of Malava Constituency Shape Development Plans for 2024-2026

Malava Constituency is currently engaging its residents in a public participation exercise aimed at gathering proposals for the National Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the financial years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.

This initiative allows residents from the seven wards to voice their needs and suggestions, ensuring that the development agenda reflects the unique priorities of the constituency.

Led by Fund Manager Humphrey Sechelo, the public participation sessions have garnered significant interest, with community members encouraged to share their ideas concerning essential infrastructure improvements, climate mitigation projects, and other developmental concerns.

The focus on active resident engagement marks a concerted effort to bolster community-driven initiatives that can spur local growth and development.

In West Kabras ward, residents have expressed their concerns regarding security in the area. They have proposed the urgent completion of the Imbiakalo Police Post, emphasizing the need for a stronger law enforcement presence to enhance safety and security within the community.

The call for improved security measures highlights the residents’ commitment to fostering a safe environment for families and businesses alike.

Meanwhile, in South Kabras ward, the community has identified the expansion of educational facilities as a priority.

Residents proposed the acquisition of land for Shamoni Secondary School, aiming to accommodate an increasing number of students and enhance educational outcomes.

The suggestion reflects a growing awareness of the importance of quality education in fostering sustainable development in the constituency.

Shirugu Mugai ward has its eye on administrative efficiency, with residents urging the national government to expedite the establishment of administrative offices for the newly formed West Kabras Sub-county.

They believe that proper office facilities will aid in effective governance and service delivery, ensuring that local needs are addressed promptly and effectively.

In Butal Chegulo ward, the community’s focus is on enhancing local education. Residents have requested the national government to purchase a school bus for a nearby institution and undertake essential renovations.

This initiative aims to improve access to education and facilitate transportation for students, underscoring the critical role of school infrastructure in promoting academic success.

The variety of proposals gathered during this public participation exercise illustrates the diverse needs and aspirations of Malava’s residents.

Each ward presents unique challenges and opportunities, prompting the CDF team to approach development holistically, taking into account the different perspectives of the community.

As the public participation sessions continue, community members are hopeful that their voices will be heard.

The level of engagement exhibited thus far signals a collective commitment to driving progress and ensuring that development initiatives are tailored to meet the specific needs of each ward.
