Governor Lusaka Commends Sugar Bill, Calls for Speedy Implementation
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has hailed the recently assented Sugar Bill 2022, terming it a critical step towards empowering farmers and revitalizing the sugar industry.
Speaking at a Sunday service in Khwisero, Kakamega, alongside President William Ruto, Governor Lusaka expressed optimism that the Bill will address longstanding challenges that have plagued the sector.
“This Bill is a game-changer in the sugar sector,” Governor Lusaka stated. “It will transform the ailing industry by enabling the re-establishment of the Kenya Sugar Board, creation of the Kenya Sugar Research and Training Institute, and the implementation of the Sugar Development Levy.”
Lusaka emphasized the urgency of implementing the Bill to its full potential, underlining its importance in reviving the Country’s sugar industry.
In addition, the governor reaffirmed the region’s commitment to the government’s approach of unity and collaboration.
“We echo calls for unity and assure the Head of State of our unwavering support,” he concluded.
