Maseno School: The home of brains, success and legends set to shine again

Maseno School remains one of the most prestigious institutions of learning in the country, where every parent wishes their children could be admitted for studies.
Today, under Chief Principal Peter Owino, Maseno School is brighter both academically and in extra-curricular activities.
Owino, who took over the institution in the year 2022 from Andrew Odhiambo Buop, is determined to take it to greater heights, and to him, academic excellence is the core business.
In the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) it registered a 97 Pc pass as an overwhelming 511 students out of a candidature of 523 students scooped direct entries to university.

With three students managing a C minus as the last grade, education stakeholders continue to applaud the efforts of the administration and staff of the school for impressive performance.
The grades were as follows: 36 A (plain), 126 A-, 114 B+, 121 B (plain), 121 B-, 37 C+, 9 C, 3 C-, 0 D+, 0 D, 0 D-, and 0 E grades.
Established in the year 1906 by the missionaries of the Church Missionary Society (CMS) under Reverend James Jamieson Willis, the school prides itself of notable alumni both locally and internationaly among them Barrack Obama Sr., the father of former United States President Barrack Obama.
He was a senior government economist.
Kenya’s first vice president Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, former Member of Parliament and minister in Mwai Kibaki’s administration Robinson Njeru Githae, Kenyas 9th Vice President Moody Awori and decorated sports persona and notable Rugby 7s team coach Benjamin Ayimba re some of those whose lives were shaped at Maseno School.

In September 2024, 21 students from the school were hosted in Mombasa for a motivational trip after getting grade A plain in mock exams.
The trip to the coastal City was one of its kind as the students traveled via air, a great and befitting motivation.
As national exams begin across the country, parents and the school administration have expressed confidence that their children will come out of the school with success as they have trust in the education programmes of the school.
