Bungoma County receives Sh37.4 Million medical supplies from KEMSA

Bungoma County Government has received a substantial consignment of medical supplies from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) in a bid to strengthen healthcare services.
The consignment which is valued at Sh 37,399,055 was received by the County’s Health and Sanitation CECM Carolyne Makali, who also emphasised the importance of these resources in supporting healthcare facilities.
The supplies include an assortment of essential health products like Pharmaceuticals (Sh14,300,647), Laboratory items (Sh6,530,800) and Non-pharmaceuticals (Sh16,567,608).
In total, these medical resources will be delivered to 160 health facilities, primarily targeting Level 2 and Level 3 health facilities across the County.
Among the crucial items delivered are antibiotics, analgesics, antimalarial medications, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) commodities, as well as various laboratory and non-pharmaceutical products.
These resources are expected to enhance the quality of healthcare services offered, particularly in rural areas where such supplies are most needed.
While expressing gratitude for the delivery, CECM Makali urged all facility managers to utilise these commodities judiciously.
She highlighted the county’s ongoing efforts to secure additional funding to ensure sustained stock levels of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) in the county’s healthcare facilities.
“This consignment is a significant boost for our healthcare system. We urge all facilities to use these commodities rationally as we continue lobbying for more funds to ensure adequate and consistent supply of essential health products,” she stated.
