Namagara Secondary School Unveils Multipurpose Hall to Enhance Learning Environment

Namagara Secondary School in Manda Shivanga Ward has seen a significant boost in its educational offerings with the commissioning of a new multipurpose hall by Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi. The event, attended by students, parents, and the surrounding community of Namagara village, marked a notable milestone in the commitment to improving educational infrastructure within the constituency.

During his address at the ceremony, MP Malulu emphasized his unwavering dedication to elevating the infrastructural standards of learning institutions in the region. He acknowledged that a conducive learning environment is vital for the academic success of students and urged the community to fully embrace the development initiatives currently being implemented.

“Namagara Secondary School has made commendable strides in academic performance over the past few years, with over 50 students achieving university entry grades last year alone,” Malulu noted, highlighting the school’s commitment to academic excellence. This achievement is a testament to the school’s upward trajectory, positioning it as a leading institution in the sub-county.

The school currently boasts 19 teachers on the Board of Management (BOM), 18 staff members from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and 15 subordinate staff. Neddy Sikolia serves as the BOM chair, together with other members including John Shitanda and Mary Nelima, and have positively contributed to the school’s initiatives.

However, despite its successes, the school faces challenges, notably a shortage of teachers. Malulu indicated that the institution is in dire need of a bus to facilitate student transportation, with plans to secure this in the next financial year.

“Education should be accessible to all children, and we will continue to fight for resources to ensure this,” he affirmed. The community has benefited significantly from bursary programs aimed at assisting students from low-income families.

Malulu reiterated his commitment to support the school and the broader community in all aspects, ensuring that they remain informed and engaged in educational matters.

As he addressed concerns regarding local infrastructure, Malulu clarified the responsibilities of local and county governments. “Local feeder roads and Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers are the responsibility of the county government. If I step in to repair them, it does not imply that it is my sole responsibility,” he explained, asserting that he will provide support when necessary. Currently, he is in discussions with the ministry for assistance regarding road maintenance.

On the political front, Malulu took a moment to advise Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa on the importance of surrounding himself with trustworthy individuals. “It is crucial for leaders to associate with honest people who provide sound advice,” he stated, urging Barasa to be cautious of political brokers who may not have the community’s best interests at heart.

The launch of the multipurpose hall at Namagara Secondary School symbolizes not just an infrastructure upgrade, but a renewed commitment to educational excellence in Malava. With the support of local leaders and the community, the future looks bright for both the school and its students.
