Tim Wanyonyi leads MPs from Western Kenya in congratulating Oparanya for landing CS position
By Tim Sande.
In July, President William Ruto nominated former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to his cabinet, designating him as the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs.
This appointment was part of a broader government reshuffle unveiled at State House. Oparanya replaced Simon Kiprono Chelugui in this crucial role.
Oparanya is a seasoned leader, having served as the Governor of Kakamega County for two terms.
He is also a close ally of Raila Odinga and was the Deputy Party Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) until his recent resignation to take up the CS nomination.
Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, MP for Westlands, led a delegation of MPs from Western Kenya, including George Aladwa and Kakamega Women Representative Elsie Muhanda, in paying a courtesy call on the newly appointed CS.
The group conveyed their congratulations and best wishes to Oparanya as he steps into his new role.
Their visit signifies the strong support and unity among leaders from the Western region, highlighting their collective optimism for Oparanya’s tenure as Cabinet Secretary.
The MPs expressed confidence in Oparanya’s ability to steer the Cooperatives and MSMEs sector toward growth and development, benefiting countless Kenyans across the country.
