Webuye’s Muji Seconndary School sets standards, aims top position
Muji mixed Secondary School in Webuye West, Bungoma County is set to bounce back in academic and co-curriculum activities.
Speaking recently during its Annual General Meeting held at the school grounds, the school Principal Aggrey Ligami said his students and the staff have been working hard to return the school to its old glory in academic and sports excellence.
Mr. Ligami further urged parents to sponsor their children’s education by paying school fees on time.
The school boasts of 29 teachers who have ensured that every year, the school remains in the academic limelight with the assistance of an able and effective students council.
“As part of maintaining its image, the entire teaching staff aspires to uphold high levels of professionalism obtainable through competence and pertinent skills, we also regard teamwork as a prerequisite in teaching and learning process collaboration within the school together with other stakeholders and we are committed to accountability and transparency in all our undertakings,” said the principal.
Since he took over the school, he introduced curriculum implementation which is aimed at achieving high levels of efficiency, by monitoring, and evaluation to provide a comfortable and conducive environment for learning and teaching.
His main objective has been to access education 99%, retention 90% and completion95%.
Mr. Ligami has also been ensuring that the poor students can still access education hence reducing the dropout rate in the school.
At the same time, the school motivates candidates through academic trips.
According to the principal, Muji Secondary School is facing teacher shortage and has less infrastructure to accommodate the growing numbers and is currently involved in renovations of existing ones and it is urgently in need of a modern gate.
Despite these challenges, the school is determined to reclaim its past glory as a centre of excellence in Bungoma County.
“We thank our political wing from the area MCA Hon.Ali Mutoka and area MP Martin Wanyonyi for their continued support and we are sure that they will partner with us to ensure that we attain these necessities,” added the Principal.
With now a swelling population of 814 students from the previous population, the principal has been the driving force behind ensuring that the institution’s performance remains relevant throughout the years.
This year the school has registered 177 candidates.
In attendance were Webuye East sub county director of education Dr. Pail Rono, area Mca Ali Mutoka, and area MP Martin Wanyonyi among others.
