“Baseless allegations”: Lusaka tells off Senator Wakoli

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has exuded confidence that he will withstand the vicious onslaught launched against him and his administration, expressing confidence that he will be vindicated in the fullness of time.

The governor has come under immense attacks from Senator Wafula Wakoli among other critics who have launched relentless attacks on the former Senate Speaker who is serving his last term as governor.

Speaking at a university students’ convention in Tongaren on August 10, Lusaka revealed that investigations by various state agencies are already underway, urging the senator to exercise patience and give room to the agencies t do their work professionally without undue pressure.

“You have made serious allegations that are evidently baseless. What you need to do now is wait for the outcome,” Lusaka stated.

The governor reiterated that he is neither irrational nor uninformed to be involved in such outrageous claims.

He also emphasised his readiness to resign if found culpable, adding that Senator Wakoli should equally be held accountable if the allegations are proven false.

On youth-related matters, Lusaka reassured the youth of Bungoma that the county government remains committed to ensuring that 30 percent of tenders are awarded to them.

However, he decried the tendency of some youths to sell these tenders after winning them.

Additionally, the governor pledged to provide internship opportunities for university students, noting that the county government has already implemented an internship policy.
