We want Nalwa as Malava MP, boda boda operators declare
Bodaboda operators drawn from across Malava constituency led by their chairman Seth Mwanje have endorsed the candidature of Benjamin Nalwa as the next Member of Parliament ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Addressing the press after a meeting held at a Malava hotel attended by Nalwa, Mwanje decried the poor state of the roads in the area and negligence of the riders welfare by the leadership of current member of Parliament Malulu Injendi as the reason for their early decision to declare their stance.
Mwanje said Nalwa had in the recent past proved beyond reasonable doubt that he was better placed to address the issues afflicting the industry among them the high dependence levels and insecurity.
He added that while the group has a Savings and cooperative society, no one has bothered to allocate funds to them for their activities, and they rely much on members contribution are too limited.
In the meeting that was attended by former sector chair Chitunga Museve, many of the speakers asked Nalwa to walk the talk of supporting them by getting involved in their affairs this early than wait till 2027 as they are left to fight for themselves with no government or individuals in higher positions ready to listen to their plight.
The race for Malava parliamentary race is gaining momentum as individuals with interests criss cross the constituency in search of votes.
Among those who have shown interest are Kenya national union of nurses secretary general Seth Panyako,Bungoma high school chief principal Enock Andanje, and commisioner of police Shilunji Taliti.
Mp Injendi is set to give it a fourth stab.
