Ikolomani Doctor lights more fire under Barasa’s seat as race for Kakamega Governor takes shape

Ikolomani born Dr. Sylvester Anami has joined the race of those seeking to unseat Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa in the 2027 elections bringing the list to at least six hopefuls.

Among those who have already expressed interest for the position are county Senator Dr.Bonnie Khalwale, Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda and United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) secretary General Cleophas Malala.

Pressure is also mounting on Mombasa based lawyer Leonard Shimaka to be the candidate for the Northern people who feel left out in the Barasa administration.

It is not clear whether he will heed to the calls.

Anami who over the weekend met with stakeholders drawn from the Northern sub counties of the county said he feels the electorate have been taken for a ride by Barasa and they need a liberator, and he offered himself as the one.

Malava, Likuyani and Lugari leaders were among the teams he met to publicly announce that he was in the race.

Poor infrastructure, stalled projects, cronyism and nepotism at the county are among the issues he promised to address once elected in office.
