This Is Why Ruto Deserves Second Term, Lusaka Tells Mt Elgon Residents
Bungoma Governor and President William Ruto’s Western Region re-election Coordinator, Kenneth Lusaka, has urged residents of Western Kenya to firmly support the re-election of William Ruto in 2027, saying the Head of State has demonstrated a strong commitment to development and deserves a second term to consolidate and expand ongoing transformation programmes across the country.
Speaking at Nomorio in Mt Elgon Constituency during a joint fundraiser in support of 21 grassroots churches, Lusaka said President Ruto’s administration has made significant strides since assuming office in 2022, particularly in agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, and the revival of key industries that directly impact the livelihoods of ordinary Kenyans.
“The President has achieved a lot within a short period of time. If he has delivered this much in his first term, imagine what more he can accomplish if given another term to continue transforming the country,” Lusaka said.
The Governor cited the reduction of fertilizer prices from KSh7,500 to about KSh2,500 per bag as one of the administration’s major achievements, noting that the intervention has revitalized the agricultural sector and empowered farmers across the country.
Lusaka further credited President Ruto for reviving the sugar industry, highlighting the resurgence of Nzoia and Mumias sugar factories, which he said have restored hope and livelihoods to thousands of families in the Western Kenya region.
He also lauded the government’s efforts in expanding Universal Health Coverage through the Social Health Authority (SHA), saying the programme is enhancing access to affordable healthcare services for millions of Kenyans.
On infrastructure development, Lusaka said President Ruto has made notable progress, citing the recently advertised MaeniโKimililiโKapsokwony Road project, which he noted will open up the region, improve connectivity, and stimulate economic growth.
“The President has shown immense capability in delivering development projects across the country. The opposition, on the other hand, lacks a clear strategy to unseat President Ruto or offer a viable alternative development agenda,” Lusaka said.
The Governor cautioned residents against aligning with opposition politics, arguing that meaningful development is best achieved through collaboration with the national government.
“There is no development in the opposition. Our region must remain focused and united behind the President to secure more development opportunities and government projects,” he stated.
Lusaka’s sentiments were echoed by Farouk Kibet, who said the President’s development record justifies his re-election in 2027. He added that Western Kenya remains strategically positioned to produce the country’s leadership after President Ruto’s anticipated second term in office.
Farouk noted that the region stands to benefit politically and economically by maintaining its support for the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Fred Kapondi , the host MP, reaffirmed the region’s commitment to President Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid, citing ongoing development projects and government interventions that have positively impacted local communities.
Kapondi urged residents to register as voters and actively participate in the electoral process to safeguard the region’s development agenda.
The fundraiser brought together several leaders, including Didmus Barasa, Geoffrey Mulanya, Emmanuel Wangwe, and Consolata Wakwabubi, all of whom expressed support for President Ruto’s development agenda and called for unity ahead of the 2027 General Election.
