Team Kazi Western Rallies Professionals Behind Regional Transformation
There is a need for the Western region to unite and speak with one voice if it is to remain relevant and achieve its much-desired transformation.
The call for unity and shared purpose remains the cornerstone of the region’s development. As the Mulembe region, through effective communication, collaboration and a clear vision, residents can unlock limitless opportunities for their people.
Principal Secretary for the State Department for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, hailed the meeting, describing it as the first physical and meaningful professional engagement under the banner of Team Kazi Western (TKW), a dynamic and united platform bringing together members from Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties.
The gathering brought together chairpersons and directors of government parastatals and universities, top executives, scholars, and private sector leaders from across Western Kenya to reflect on the region’s development and review the progress of ongoing projects.
Dr. Inyangala said such engagements were essential in fostering a united Western region.
She noted that the region was poised for transformation through a renewed commitment to unity of purpose among its residents.
“This collective symbolizes a shared vision of a region that is professionally united, purpose-driven and impact-focused, and it should be emulated in all aspects across the five counties,” she said.
The high-profile meeting was also attended by Environment Cabinet Secretary Deborah Mulongo, Principal Secretary Prof. Juma Mukhwana, PS Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, Industry Advisor Chiggai, PS Imbunya and PS Makokha, among other dignitaries.
Dr. Inyangala observed that the region was rich in brilliant ideas, talented people, resources and visionary leadership.
At the same time, she thanked the government and President William Ruto for supporting various development initiatives being implemented in the region.
“We are grateful for the continued support worth billions of shillings that our President has invested in the region through modern infrastructure, water projects, roads, housing and other social development initiatives such as stadiums. Besides ourselves, we have other Western region government appointees, including directors, chairpersons, commissioners, university council members, CEOs and county executive leaders who have come together to discuss the government agenda in Western Kenya, achievements made so far, and ways of fostering further development. I sincerely thank the President for his commitment to bringing development to the Western region,” she said.

The region was urged to reciprocate by supporting President Ruto’s bid for a second term, citing the development projects that have been implemented under his administration.
Among the projects highlighted were the tarmacking of roads, the Affordable Housing Programme, the completion of Kakamega Level Six Hospital, industrial parks in each of the Western counties, key government appointments, the expansion of the Kakamega Airstrip, construction of the Bungoma Airstrip, Bukhungu, Kidundu and Kanduyi stadiums, as well as the establishment of KMTC campuses, with some of the projects nearing completion.
Through the current administration, the region is also benefiting from two major infrastructure projects: the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to Busia and the construction of a dual carriageway from Kenya to Uganda through Malaba.
Dr. Inyangala called on professionals and politicians from Western Kenya to work together as economic patriots for the benefit of the region.
She stressed the need to move away from emotive politics and instead embrace rationality and strategic leadership to drive development.
Addressing more than 200 professionals and politicians who attended the meeting, Dr. Inyangala urged them to support President William Ruto’s second-term bid, noting that his administration had significantly benefited Western Kenya.
“I wish to stress the importance of coming together and speaking with one voice for a common goal. Our President has remained steadfast and vision-driven in delivering a transformative agenda for all Kenyans. Let us work together, support our leaders and rally behind this vision to unlock the full potential of our region and our nation,” she said.
