Kakamega procures 1.5M anti-Bilharzia doses, to start mass deworming
The County Government of Kakamega has procured 1.5 Million doses of anti-Bilharzia drugs to be used in a deworming initiative being conducted in the county.
County Director for Public Health William Olaka the drugs will be sufficient to cover the areas affected population.
Olaka said this after he launched a couny-wide mass drug administration exercise of Bilharzia and other intestinal worms at Kakamega Primary School on Wednesday.
He said the school-based deworming initiative aims to improve learners health at the same time ensuring retention of students in class.
The deworming exercise, he revealed, is on-going and residents aged two years and above should embrace the initiative to fight the menace.
AMREF, Health Africa, Evidence Action and African Institute for Health are key development partners that have pledged to support the initiative to ensure improved health for residents.
