Tuvei bags major support in bid for Malava MP

A section of Malava youths have thrown their weight behind Wilberforce Tuvei as their preferred candidate in the coming by-election.

The youths drawn from various parts from the constituency, while meeting for the first time with their candidate at Malava K hotel, expressed optimism that he was honest and up to the task.

Unlike other aspirants, the youths said Tuvei was straight forward and means well and has all that it takes to be the next MP of Malava Constituency.

Mainly drawn from the Abashuu sub-clan, they observed that this time they were ready to take leadership back home after over 25years of trying.

They called on the voters to support Tuvei’s bid noting that their clan had a population of about 44,000 people out of the registered 94,000, voters in Malava hence had a bigger chance of electing their own.

Tuvei while appreciating their support stated that he was ready to represent them in the national assembly and pointed out that the recently read budget had allocated funds for the last mile connectivity of which many of the residents in Bushu had no access to for many years.

He also promised that if elected, he will ensure the money set aside in the budget for subsidized farming inputs benefits them too by pushing for equitable distribution of the seeds and fertilizer.

On cane farming, he said it was time the western region farmers started getting bonuses to not only make cane farming venture lucrative but profitable to the farmers.

“I am aware of the shortcomings befalling you and I have outlined them so that when you elect me to represent you as your Mp I’ll be pushing to see them realized,” he said.

He said he was ready to hit the ground running as soon as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announces the election dates warning his opponents to brace for a bruising battle.

He said the constituency was now ripe for young fresh leadership which will push and articulate matters soberly rubbishing the old folks leadership as outdated and out of touch with the real world issues.

“Globally it is now our to run the show and that is why we are standing up to be counted,” he said.
