Panyako boots Wetang’ula, jumps to Jirongo party
Trade unionist Seth Ambusini Panyako has ditched National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and dissociated himself with the Kenya Kwanza administration in his bid for Malava MP, it’s now official.
In a move that has got many unawares days after Wetang’ula led a delegation to endorse Panyako as the Ford Kenya’s candidate, the unionist has jumped ship and joined Cyrus Jirongo-led party UDP.
Speaking in South Kabras, Panyako defended his decision stating that it was meant to protect the Speaker from threats being issued by some government politicians threatening to impeach him should he support the Malava politician.
“I was happy when the speaker and other leaders visited Malava to declare their trust and interest in me as their candidate. But what I’m hearing happening to our Western leaders being threatened by the State operatives has made me make bold decision of choosing another Luhya led party that will safeguard our leaders including Wetangula and Natembeya from humiliation and threats. And I assure you that I will deliver this seat via this party which I’m the secretary general,” he announced.
He blasted the government for intimidating those who stand up against atrocities and reminded them that to the country was headed in the wrong direction.
“It is me who was the national vice chairman of UDA and it’s me who took you people there but I’m sorry for the party is filthy, stinking from its series of killings and mismanagement of the country resources,” he said.
He named the controversial Social Health Authority (SHA) registration and payment criteria that is charging the common mwananchi exorbitantly unlike NHIF.
