Govt lands in Chegulo as top PSs rally Malava behind Ruto, blast Opposition

A section of leaders have come to the defence of President William Ruto against the onslaught being unleashed by the united opposition.

Speaking during the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) in Butali Chegulo Ward in Malava Constituency, the leaders led by the Principal Secretary Interior Raymond Omolo, his Higher Education counterpart Dr Beatrice Inyangala, Parliamentary Affairs Aurelia Rono, MP Fred Ikana (Shinyalu), Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), David Ndakwa (Malava), among MCAs, blasted former President Uhuru Kenyatta for leading the ongoing war against President William Ruto.

Setting the base, the area MCA, who is an aspiring Kakamega County senator, Kevin Mahelo, took sides with the President, terming his oppressors as guilty as charged.

Mahelo, on his part, assured the locals that he was going for the senatorial seat and urged for the locals’ support.

The Vice-Chancellor for Cooperative University of Kenya, Dr Bernard Chitunga, who was the host, said the President commanded a lot of respect from world leaders, including China, where he has derived his infrastructure development plan for Kenya, which was transforming the country against the wishes of many.

Chitunga said Ruto was walking the China way in terms of infrastructure development and should be supported to transform the country.

He termed the verbal attacks and political plots to unseat President Ruto as acts of a witch-hunt crafted to derail the unity of the country.

The leader drummed support for William Ruto’s administration, stating that if the US President, among other leaders, recognises and is willing to work with the President, why those opposing him.

Principal Secretary Interior Raymond Omollo said the church plays a vital role in education, health and spiritual empowerment.

The PS said the political rivalry in the country was due to envy from those leaders who feel that the President had equalised the country in matters of development against their wishes, stating that the country’s political bar had been raised to the next level.

He said already 100,000 teachers have been employed in less than three years, with 30 million Kenyans registered and enjoying the Social Health Authority (SHA) services.

He informed that the administrative units gazetted have been operationalised and will soon start working after the personnel have been fully dispatched.

He applauded the efforts the Western region has displayed by supporting the broad-based government and insisted on their support towards the President’s second term in office.

The PS Higher Education, Beatrice Inyangala, said Ruto was a globally accepted leader who should be respected and rubbished the war waged against him as a personal vendetta only meant to satisfy a few disgruntled individuals who feel they have been politically cut to size.

She lauded the efforts the President has put in place to develop the country and called off the numerous unnecessary rhetoric being levelled against him as baseless.

PS Parliamentary Services Aurelia Rono said the government was committed to realising the five pillars the Ruto administration had promised as ripple effects, including agriculture, universal health coverage, micro and small enterprises (MSMEs), among others, as per his manifesto, and that they were working around the clock to deliver to Kenyans.

She called on Kenyans to start practising patriotism towards their country, noting that it was a beautiful and respected country globally.

She called for a truce in the ongoing attacks on the President and instead challenged those opposing his leadership to give an alternative development agenda instead of shouting with empty ideas.

Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali, who is the Kakamega MP caucus chairman, said the Infrastructure Funds Bill being tabled in government was the best development agenda the country will have and should be fully supported, as it was crafted to place Kenyans on the global map, as China had already headed in the same direction and developed drastically.

Malava MP David Ndakwa said the bursary allocation for the constituency was now ready to be disbursed.

He said President Ruto was the best leader the country will have so far and should be given time to deliver.

The ongoing political bickering was not healthy to the country’s development and should be shunned, and cautioned Kenyans against being brainwashed by a few politically angry individuals who feel that leadership should only come from their tribe.

Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana rubbished the recent utterances from former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for plotting to unseat Ruto through unorthodox means, inciting Central residents against his leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.

He wondered why the two were so bitter with the current government of the day to the extent of wanting to ensure President William Ruto only serves for one term.

He called on Kenyans to support the broad-based government and shun tribal politics meant to throw the country into anarchy.

He reminded the former President that it was Ruto who supported his presidential bid for ten years and should be the last person to backstab his leadership.

He wondered why it was only leaders from the Mt Kenya region who were so bitter and upfront in fighting President William Ruto’s regime, yet they have for so many years served by producing Presidents to lead the nation.

For so many decades, even the Interior position PS Omolo is holding was reserved for people from Central, from Karanja Kibicho, Francis Kimemia to Mutea Iringo, and today we stand firm to condemn the spirit of hate and tribalism being peddled by the former President through his lieutenants led by Rigathi Gachagua, and we want to remind them that Kenya is too big to be led by only one tribe.

During the event, a total of KSh 3.4 million was raised, with PS Omolo (1 million), Ouma Oluga 500k, PS Dr Betty Inyangala and Aurelia Rono each donating KSh 100k, with the fundraising meant to construct a new SDA church within the ward.
