Surrender now, Shinyalu MP tells Kakamega Governor
Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana has told Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa to surrender all stalled county projects, including roads and markets, to the national government for revamp amid escalating feuds between them in Kakamega.
Speaking today at Kambiri market, the MP said some projects under the county government of Kakamega pose a bad picture in his constituency, urging the governor to surrender them to the national government.
He said roads like Kambiri to Rondo are in pathetic condition and need an urgent solution so that residents may have humble movement from one place to the other.
“Let him surrender county projects that are in Shinyalu to the national government because he has refused to work on them; he has failed my people for three years since he took the mantle,” Ikana said.
However, the legislator added that despite approving almost 18 billion for the county, the governor has done nothing commendable for Shinyalu residents other than hiring goons and political bloggers.
Ikana said Barasa has left his key responsibilities in the wilderness but is busy dividing residents politically.
He said at the moment he has not built a single project since he entered the office but has been in the limelight in scandalous activities that have ruined the county.
“While in Parliament I passed a bill that allocated 18 billion to this county government, but Barasa has done nothing for the people; he is busy hiring goons to assault innocent residents,” Ikana alleged.
Further, Ikana used the platform to urge residents to ignore Barasa’s narratives in Kakamega, saying they are of no use and only serve to divide them.
He challenged Barasa to show his work, as he affirmed that he has done a lot as compared to the county boss. He said at the moment the Airstrip to Chepsonoi road is under construction to gain its bitumen standards, as well as three other roads in Shinyalu Constituency.
He revealed that he has also allocated money to construct Shinyalu and Khayega modern markets to boost the country’s economy.
“My work is seen; I have allocated funds to construct Shinyalu and Khayega markets, and by next week Kambiri market will also have an allocation so that our people grow economically,” Ikana revealed.
