Kibet spoke at Mutsuma Primary School grounds, where he was the chief guest at a special prayer session for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominee Elphas Shalakha, who will be flying the party flag in the upcoming West Kabras MCA by-election slated for 26th February 2026.

This follows the vacancy of the seat after its occupant, David Ndakwa, was elected Malava MP following the demise of the then MP, Malulu Injendi, early last year.

The aide, who has become a frequent visitor and empowerment icon in the constituency—leading locals to nickname him ‘Akhonya’ (the helper)—said education was key, noting that it was the best gift a child could be given as it brings together the rich and the poor at the same table of reasoning.

Akhonya, who has so far empowered over 10 schools within the constituency, said he would start with needy institutions within the MP’s backyard before proceeding to other regions.

He cautioned parents and teachers against taking the security of pupils lightly after learning that Mutsuma Primary School management had allowed a swarm of bees to occupy the school office without taking the necessary steps to contain them.

He said this was a major concern, noting that bees are dangerous and lethal.

Farouk further donated KSh 1 million to Mutsuma Secondary School to purchase land for expansion, while the primary section received KSh 450,000. Of this amount, Farouk Kibet donated KSh 250,000, Principal Secretary for Higher Education Dr Beatrice Inyangala contributed KSh 100,000, and Malava MP David Ndakwa added KSh 100,000 towards the renovation of 10 classrooms that had been condemned.

Malava MP David Ndakwa cautioned teachers who mismanaged their allocation of KSh 1,538,000 meant for infrastructure development and warned of dire consequences for school management involved in substandard work. He, however, promised to promote and add more funds to schools that utilised the funds well.

He said he would continue scouting for more friends to assist in improving education standards in schools within his constituency.

Principal Secretary for Higher Education Dr Beatrice Inyangala said President William Ruto’s administration was hell-bent on improving education, citing the increase in the education budget from KSh 500 billion to KSh 790 billion as evidence that education remains a key priority.

She said the government was committed to ensuring quality education for all Kenyan learners at all levels, from primary school to technical colleges, where it is paying fees for technical trainees.
