Mguu Niponye: Panyako, DAP-K leaders booed, chased from Malava

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate for the Malava constituency Seth Panyako and top party bosses have been forced to flee for safety after angry residents baying for their blood started chanting ‘two term’ slogans in a rally they had staged at Manda market.

The handful of locals who had turned out at the market were disappointed after the rally ended and they discovered the money they had been promised was not enough.

The party boss, Eugene Wamalwa and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya had accompanied Panyako and the locals were overheard saying Wamalwa never appreciates those who attend rallies wherever he goes.

The leaders had to be evacuated by their security detail after all hell broke loose as they blamed organisers of the rally for the incident.

Panyako, who is seeking to replace the late MP and rival Malulu Injendi, who died early this year after a short illness, is having a hard time to penetrate the constituency.

The leaders were expected to hold a series of rallies in more than four wards in the constituency among them Shirugu-Mugai, West Kabras, Chimuche, and South Kabras.

The leaders have accused the government of what they allege may have been a planned incident.
