Farouk Kibet courts Malava as locals welcome his visits
The sustained forays into Malava Constituency by President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, are likely to hand the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant in the upcoming by-election slated for November 27, a victory, if the recent political talk in the area is anything to go by.
Kibet, who has mastered the local Kabras language and speaks directly to voters in their tongue, has now been labelled the darling of the people and is expected to have the final say on who becomes the next Member of Parliament for Malava.
Whenever he visits the area, he leaves behind a satisfied crowd with goodies both personal and from the government.
Many describe Kibet as a down-to-earth leader who, in recent times, has proved resourceful to the people of Malava.
He has led empowerment harambees across the constituency that have seen women, youth, boda boda operators, and widows’ groups benefit.
Churches have not been left behind, and as a result, many religious leaders are expected to rally their support behind the government.
Kibet has also contributed funds to schools, including Samitsi Girls, Samitsi Boys, Shamoni Primary, Kimang’eti Girls, and several others a gesture that has endeared him to the teaching fraternity.
For now, the electorate is waiting for the party to hand them a candidate, insisting they cannot afford to vote in an opposition candidate.
