School teacher shakes UDA, jolts Malava politics

Simon Chimuche Kangwana, the principal of Kivaywa High School, is now sending shivers across political camps in Malava as he sets his eyes on the constituency’s seat.
He is among a host of other hopefuls salivating for the seat left vacant after the death of area MP Moses Malulu Injendi.
His popularity has started wafting through the villages like bush fire, and now politicians are plotting to cut it on thegrounds that he is an active public servant.
But unmoved, Kangwana says he has already made up his mind and he is ready to quit his teaching career and serve the people of Malava as their MP.
A good public speaker, Kangwana has on his name a good development record, with every station he led having recorded the best academic results and besides improving infrastructure.
He taught at Namagara school in Manda/Shivanga ward before he was elevated to become the principal of Friends school Bulupi Secondary in West Kabras ward, and it is during his tenure that the institution came into the limelight sending the highest number of students to the university.
Kangwana says that is priority will be on ensuring that every needy but bright children are awarded full scholarships to pursue their dreams.
Also, unemployment menace among the youth is an issue that needs an urgent address, and using the position, he says he will connect them to opportunities.

Politics being a dirty game, and now Kangwana, an educationist having joined the murky waters ready to swim, will he shine like he has been doing in the education world?
This is the question on the lips of many who are following his type of politics.
He is pegging his victory on the government party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party joining five others who are set to battle for its ticket among them Lawyer Leonard Shimaka, West Kabras ward member of county assembly David Ndakwa, Bungoma High School principal Enock Andanje, and the late MP’s son Rhyan Injendi.
But as it stands, Kangwana has emerged as the strongest contender within the party, giving his colleagues sleepless nights.
It is on this ground that many say that the party must hold nominations if it has to remain relevant in the area as imposing a candidate may be counterproductive at a time individuals are radicalising the ground.
