Let your father’s spirit rest first or else…Abasonje elders warn Malulu’s son in succession politics

The Abasonje sub clan of the larger Kabras is against the candidature of the late Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi’s son, Rhyan Injendi.
Their decision is based on grounds that his father’s spirit is yet to rest and it will be an abomination for him to go for the position this early.
According to an elder who sought anonymity, Malulu’s death while still in office is termed as a bad omen in the society.
Therefore, he explained, Rhyan can only dream of succeeding his father after another person is elected and holds the position for sometime.
He added that should Malulu’s son defy the elders counsel, he will face the wrath of the clan’s gods.
He confirmed having reached out to the late MP’s family to deliver the message immediately after word went round that there were plans to have the son succeed his father in a by-election.

Apart from Injendi, the clan has a lawyer and Advocate of the High Court, Edgar Busiega, eyeing the position.
Should Rhyan heed to the elders’ calls, then Busiega will be endorsed to participate in the by-election that is to be held after the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC)
Busiega is seen as a front runner in the race where more than 10 candidates have declared interest.
Among those seeking to succeed Malulu include lawyer Leonard Shimaka, former Malava Boys High School principal Daniel Mwachi, Kivaywa High School principal Simon Kangwana, Commissioner of Police Nelson Taliti Shilunji, Kenya National Union of Nurses (Knun) secretary General Seth Panyako and Bungoma High School principal Enock Andanje.
