Maseno School vows to top 2025 national exams

It is the school that former first Kenyas Vice president Jaramogi Oginga Odinga schooled and taught before becoming a teacher at the same school.

Maseno School under Peter Owino, where academic success is part of their menu, now wants to be top, nationally, this year with the mean target of 10.5 up from 9.727 last year and 9.553 in the year 2023 positive deviation of 0.174.

The school has been ranked top in the Nyanza region ahead of the likes of Rio Kindo, sits on over 100 acres of land, and healthy animals are seen grazing with old symbolic buildings speaking volume.

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga building and Robert Ouko are among the buildings that give a brief history of the school.

It is also said that the Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga was born on the ground when his father taught there.

Deputy principal in charge of academics Reverent Elkana says this year their target is to get 100 A plain to become top country wide and talks of a wider plan already put in place to realise the same.

However, it is worth noting that last year,Maseno school was among the top 15 nationally despite having the highest number of candidates who were 756 students.

But again, this year, more than 806 students will be sitting their exams at the school and are all confident of coming out as winners.

At Maseno, renowned scholar Bethwel Ogot who breathed his last few weeks ago, former minister Robinson Njeru Githae and current chief of staff in the office of the president in charge of strategic delivery unit Eliud Owalo sat listening to their teachers.

Political figures Ochieng Oneko and a prof Odhiambo also horned their skills here.

Former president Mwai Kibaki is among those key people who have supported the school with a building named Paul Otula serving now as a dormitory.
