Lusaka shares tips on how to revolutionise Kenya’s agricultural sector

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called for the swift implementation of agricultural policies and programs to revitalize the counties’ agricultural sector.
Speaking during a sensitization and leadership workshop for County Executive Committee Members (CECM) in charge of agriculture, Lusaka emphasized the need for robust policy development and implementation to drive transformative change in the sector.
“As the Council of Governors, we are the voice of counties and champions of devolved governments’ interests in policy formulation. I urge you to support the Council’s position in your engagements with the national government,” Lusaka stated.
In his capacity as Chair of the Council of Governors’ Agriculture Committee, Lusaka reaffirmed the Council’s crucial role in ensuring county priorities are integrated into national agricultural policies.

He stressed that all policy decisions must align with devolution principles and have the approval of the Council of Governors.
The workshop, held in Naivasha and attended by key stakeholders and partners, focused on enhancing capacity building, aligning county service delivery systems, and implementing agriculture model policies.
Key issues discussed included legislative frameworks, digitizing agricultural systems, and scaling up support for smallholder farmers, seen as vital steps in ensuring the agricultural sector thrives.
