Wetang’ula to Ruto: You did well to bring Raila, Uhuru in Government

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has endorsed President William Ruto’s decision to incorporate opposition leaders into government.

Speaking on Thursday, December 26, 2024, through his official X account, Wetang’ula described the move as a critical step toward fostering national stability and inclusive development.

The Ford Kenya party leader noted that during a memorial service for the late Mzee Morris Mabonga in Bumula constituency, Bungoma County, he emphasized the importance of bringing opposition leaders into government as a way of uniting the country.

In a post shared on his social media platforms, Wetang’ula also commended the President’s recent Cabinet reshuffle, which included allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The reshuffle saw former Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe nominated to head the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo to the Ministry of ICT, and former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry.

Wetang’ula on Ruto’s Unity Agenda

According to Wetang’ula, the experience, influence, and political goodwill of these leaders will enhance President Ruto’s vision of a united Kenya, where no region or individual is excluded due to political differences.

“The President’s decision to involve opposition leaders in government is vital for national stability and will stimulate development across the Republic. The expertise and goodwill of the appointees will strengthen the unity agenda and ensure no Kenyan or region is left out or marginalized due to politics.

“President Ruto has nominated former Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, alongside former governors William Kabogo and Lee Kinyanjui, to serve in the Cabinet. While addressing residents during the memorial service for Mzee Morris Mabonga in Bumula, Bungoma, I noted that this move would bolster the government and support the President in delivering his promises,” Wetang’ula stated.

Wetang’ula on Bungoma Unity

The Speaker also revealed progress in his efforts to unite Bungoma’s political leaders, announcing that former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga had agreed to collaborate with him to strengthen local unity.

“My efforts to bring Bungoma leaders together received a significant boost after former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga agreed to join hands with me. Leaders present included Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, MPs Dan Wanyama (Webuye West), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), and Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga, alongside several MCAs,” Wetang’ula said.
