Malava MP delivers buses to schools, commissions Social Hall, says more goodies on the way
Schools within Malava Constituency will be considered for the next batch of school buses initiative courtesy of the National Government Constituency Development Funds (NG-CDF) kitty, Mulembe News has learnt.
The idea to give out buses to schools hatched by the area MP Malulu Injendi, has been supported by all the education stakeholders as one way of improving enrolment and performance in the sub county.
MP Injendi, while commissioning a multipurpose Hall at Seventh Day Adventist Namagara Secondary School in Manda-Shivanga Ward on September 19, said he was concerned with the number of many schools without buses to help in transportation during academic trips and other educational events.
“We have received many requests from our schools concerning school buses and through our CDF, we have managed to secure the first batch of three which we earlier issued to St Anthony Kakoyi, St. Patricks Bukhakunga and Friends School Bulupi and now we will be giving out to Chimoroni and Shamoni Secondary Schools respectively, with Namagara and Samitsi Girls slated for next year,” noted the MP.
The MP called for patience among other schools that had placed requests, explaining that the funds available were not sufficient to carter for all the requests, urging that school heads should also get their priorities right.
“I know a bus is a good motivation to the students and even staff for they can easily use it to conduct exchange programmes, sports and educational tours besides being of use to the community in times of need but let us not prefer a bus when you do not have enough classrooms and workshops for practical,” he advised.
He assured the sub county school managers that his office was working round the clock to ensure that each school has a CDF sponsored project as one way of equal distribution of the resources.
The Principal of Namagara SDA Judy Luvaha acknowledged the promise from the MP to be considered as the next beneficiary on the school bus programme, opining that the school which is among the top performing in the sub-county, needs the bus for educational tours that will see them improve through exchange programmes.
“With a growing population of 1,009, we actually need a bus to comfortably conduct our games and academic programmes without any hitch considering that hiring a bus is far more expensive especially during games activities where several teams needs to be transported to their respective venues,” noted the Principal.
“We are grateful for the multi-purpose hall and we will continue to post good grades and aim to be the best performing in the constituency, and we are ensuring that education is available to all the learners and that the community gets the best from us,” assured the School Head.
“Our challenge however is a ballooning wage bill from the employment 19 teachers on board to cushion the needed 57 TSC of which we only have 18,” noted the Principal.
At the same time, the Principal asked the MP, who sits on the parliamentary education committee, to help push the teachers employer to post more teachers to the school.
