Chekai Musa: Why President Ruto has every reason to be worried
By Chekai Musa.
The Hungarian American philanthropist Mr George Soros has always been credited for bloodless coups in Africa and in the Middle East.
He does this by funding local activists and civil society organisations camouflaging as agents of human rights for the strengthening of civic space and democratic ideals among the citizens.
Most successful coups against regimes is always organized by citizens but staging the struggle from the foreign land.
The Revolution against President Omar Bashir of Sudan was organized by Sudanese hiding in Nairobi, Dar es salaam and some in the United States of America.
It is very difficult to reach out to such protagonists because they are not available for dialogue within the local set up.
The coup against President Iddi Amin of Uganda was staged by Ugandans living in Nairobi and in Tanzania.
The recent coups in countries within West Africa has always been staged by citizens living in foreign land.
If indeed it is true that the Ford Foundation is the one behind the push by the Gen Z for the current political heat in the country then IMF and World Bank which are agents of economic sabotage are doomed.
The president has every reason to be worried.
He has already conceded enough ground as pushed by the Gen Z struggle. What we don’t know is the next frontier of his concession as a result of the Gen Z demands. He is actually bargaining from the weakest point.
It is the President who is calling out the Gen Z for dialogue of which they have rejected. It is the President who is evidently in need of Raila Odinga going by his latest remarks few days ago in Elgeyo-Marakwet.
This scenario has put the president in the most critical position. He is in a corner. The best way out is for William Ruto to reach out to the Kenyans who are pushing for revolution from abroad. Otherwise even the Government of National Unity is not a solution.
