Malava MP Malulu Injendi under siege as locals cheer up to Panyako
With barely three years to the 2027 General Election, Malava electorate now say 15 years will be enough for their Member of Parliament (MP) Malulu Injendi and want him to retire.
And the third time Legislator seems to be listening to the many voices with his close associates saying he may not be on the ballot for the MP position.
However, they indicate he may not go public about it just yet as he ways his next move keenly and wisely.
The MP is finding it difficult to address gatherings and he is currently, allegedly, forced to hire hecklers or use the administration officers to block other leaders opposed to him from addressing the public and this is being interpreted as a clear sign that he is aware of the shifting ground against him.
But whether he will be on ballot or not the people of Malava are burning their midnight oil to ensure that he is defeated by all means, one leader told Mulembe News.
In 2022 elections, he won against his closest challenger the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) secretary General Seth Panyako who disputed the win in court. However the court ruled in Malulu’s favour.
It is clear that Panyako has remained to be the strongest visible contender even as dozens declare interest to unseat the MP.
A section of Malava residents are rallying behind Panyako saying he has a good vision and that he is the best suited to replace Malulu.
Panyako is seen as the only aspirant who has the financial muscle and is fearless leader to face Malulu again and easily bag the seat.
He led in five out the seven wards in the constituency.
Malulu’s leadership has been marred with nepotism and underdevelopment.
It is during his tenure that the sub-county academics have dwindled and most areas denied development only launching mega projects in his home area, his opponents say.
Principals and headteachers from the area have been turned into his stooges and those opposed to him are unceremoniously transferred, so has he been accused.
