Govt increases budget allocation to employ JSS teachers on permanent terms

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has disclosed that the government will pump in KSh680 billion to the education sector.
Speaking during education day in Shinyalu constituency he said the government has added more money for capitation, JSS, higher education and TVETs
Nyoro who is also the chairperson for budget committee said have increased money in the budget to employ all JSS interns at a permant and pensionable terms.
“We are asking TSC to issue funds allocated immediately and employ JSS teachers on permanent terms.” Nyoro said.
Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana said during campaigns his manifesto was to embrace the education sector because it’s through education that will select in- coming leaders.
Ikana urged parents, teachers and stakeholders to unite and support students for Shinyalu to develop.
The MP said the main challenge facing the constituency in education is infrastructure and has started the programme already.
At the same time him together with Nyoro and other Members of Parliament were at St.Alberts Shanjero secondary school to launch the nineth storey building in Shinyalu.
” We want to continue with the same spirit until all schools in the area have condusive learning environment which would assist our students to get quality grades.” He noted.
Kakamega County KNUT chairperson Patrick Chungani said TSC employs 3 to 4 teachers and termed that as irelevant when those who left college in 2009- 2010 are not yet employed.
” This must go to TSC, Nyoro looks like the one who can pass this message to the head of state. Am speaking without making lies.” Chungani said.
He said that TSC is splashing employment letters in funerals and denying teachers deserved to be employed and chances to be employed in this country.
” Teachers Service Commission should employ teachers according to the year of graduation. You cannot employ mothers at the age of 45 years and you claim you are employing teachers and have only worked for 15 years. What pension will they get.” He lamented.
Chungani said it’s almost 11 years teachers salaries have never improved, it has remained stagnant.
He urged Nyoro who graced the occasion to pass the message that teachers are crying and let their pay be improved including terms and conditions.
