Stop political violence, Barasa tells Kakamega politicians
Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa has called on leaders and residents in the area to uphold peace ahead of next year’s General Elections.
Barasa said leaders should conduct themselves with restraint ahead of the impeding electoral process by ensuring they reject violence and instead embrace dialogue.
The Governor said their is need to build bridges of understanding, promote dialogue and choose reconciliation for the prosperity of the county and the nation at large.
He called for committed servant leadership arguing leadership is not measured by power but integrity and compassion.
Barasa said this on Friday when he led the inaugural Kakamega County Prayers at Bukhungu Stadium under the them “Healing and Prosperity of Kakamega, the Western Region and Kenya.”
In attendance was area County First Lady Prof. Janet Kassilly, Speaker James Namatsi, legislators, County Executive Committee Members and Members of the County Assembly.
Barasa observed the event marks the beginning of an annual county tradition of seeking God’s guidance, wisdom and blessings as the area pushes for peace and unity.
He said healing and prosperity begins with humility, prayer, forgiveness and integrity.
He stressed the need to embrace peaceful co-existance commending the unity demonstrated by Christian, Muslim, Hindu and other faith leaders in promoting peace, justice and harmony.
