Lusaka bags Global Integrity award
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has been honoured with the Global Icon of Peace and Integrity Award during the 2026 United Nations International Day of Parliamentarism held at Kibabii University.
The award was presented by Her Eminence Ambassador Dr. Chinaza Jenny Ugbaja, Global Director of the International Forum for Peace, Integrity and Advancement (IFOPIA), in recognition of Governor Lusaka’s exemplary leadership, integrity in public service, and his administration’s sustained efforts in combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Bungoma County.
Speaking after receiving the award, Governor Lusaka dedicated the recognition to the people of Bungoma, describing it as a testament to the county’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, protecting the dignity of women and girls, and strengthening accountable leadership.
“This recognition belongs to the people of Bungoma. It affirms that our deliberate investments in peace-building, integrity, and the fight against Gender-Based Violence are making a meaningful impact. We remain committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and just society for all,” said
Governor Lusaka.
Under Governor Lusaka’s leadership, Bungoma County has strengthened multi-sector partnerships to prevent and respond to GBV, enhanced community awareness and prevention programmes, supported survivors through improved access to essential services, and continued to champion policies that protect vulnerable groups.
The Governor noted that the recognition will inspire his administration to deepen its efforts in promoting peace, safeguarding human rights, and delivering transformative leadership that improves the lives of Bungoma residents.
The award further elevates Bungoma County’s profile as a leader in advancing peace, integrity, and coordinated action against Gender-Based Violence while reaffirming the county government’s commitment to sustainable social development.
