Butali-Chegulo youths urged to register as voters, make major decision in 2027

Youth in Butali/Chegulo Ward in Kakamega County have been urged to register as voters during the upcoming mass exercise by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

According to Ezekiel ‘Tear Gas’ Shitoshe the move will enable them participate in strengthening democracy and support development.

“It will at the same time enable them pick leaders of their choice to serve them” said Shitoshe who works in Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga’s office.

He said this over the weekend when he hosted Friends Quackers Church leaders at his home in Lukonyi village in the ward.

The church leaders had visited him to appreciate him for the role he plays in church development projects.

Shitoshe at the same time called on elites from the Ward spread across the country and abroad to plough resources back home to for the area grow economically.

The area, he said, had their sons and daughters in senior positions both in government and private sector but had shunned in participating in development of the area.

He said he had personally aided several youth from the area get jobs including in Governor’s Wanga’s office vowing to continue helping locals incase an opportunity arises.

On his part, church leader Alex Lubwa called on the youth in the area to remain peaceful during the electioneering period ahead of 2027 General Election.

Lubwa stressed the need for responsible use of social media platforms urging them to shunefrom using them in mudslinging their perceived political opponents.
