Kingdom Bank opens doors in Bungoma, Lusaka talks economic growth

A new chapter in Bungoma’s financial and economic growth was written today as Kingdom Bank officially opened its Bungoma branch, marking its latest expansion into Kenya’s western economic corridor.

The event, graced by Governor Kenneth Lusaka, symbolized more than the unveiling of a new banking facility .

“Today, we are not just opening another bank branch , we are opening the doors to possibility, partnership, and progress,” Governor Lusaka declared, lauding the bank’s decision to invest in Bungoma as a bold statement of trust in the county’s potential.

Lusaka said the move reaffirms that “Bungoma is open for business” and reflects confidence in the resilience, innovation, and industrious spirit of its people , from farmers and traders to young entrepreneurs.

He emphasized that development must have a human face, noting that Kingdom Bank’s entry would expand access to credit for farmers, empower youth-led startups, and nurture savings culture among families.

“When a farmer gets a loan to expand production, that’s transformation. When a young entrepreneur finds support to start a business, that’s empowerment. When a family opens a savings account for their child’s education, that’s hope,” Lusaka said.

On his part, Kingdom Bank Managing Director Antony Mburu hailed Bungoma as a “county of promise, resilience, and enterprise,” describing the branch opening as a milestone in the bank’s journey to become Kenya’s leading MSME financial partner.

“Our presence here is more than banking. It is about empowering farmers with agricultural financing, enabling women traders through Faidi Dada, uplifting youth enterprises, and strengthening local businesses with flexible and affordable financial solutions,” the MD said.

He noted that the Bungoma branch will drive growth in savings, lending, and brand visibility while contributing to the county’s economic vibrancy through job creation and enterprise development.
