Ruto will win 2027 polls, Savula declares as he rubbishes Opposition

Kakamega County Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has dismissed claims that the opposition will win the 2027 General Election, terming it a pipe dream.

Savula spoke at the homecoming ceremony of West Kabras MCA Elphas Shalakha, where he rubbished the united opposition as a temporary outfit that will not last until the 2027 polls.

He said it would be impossible to unseat President William Ruto, adding that the Head of State will complete his second term and finalise development programmes initiated in the constituency.

“We are ready to face off with the opposition, and even if Uhuru Kenyatta funds them, they will not outwit us. We will deliver the winning votes in favour of Ruto,” Savula said.

The outspoken politician took a swipe at former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of sabotaging the current leadership.

He said he had ditched DAP-Kenya for UDA after realising it was the most popular party in the country.

Savula said the Kabras community supported Cleophas Malala unconditionally when he campaigned for the Kakamega governor seat, and it was a shame for him to allegedly plan attacks against the same people who voted for him. He added that the recently concluded by-election, which saw UDA clinch all the seats, was a preview of what to expect in 2027.

Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe accused the former President of engaging in divide-and-rule politics to weaken Ruto’s popularity countrywide.

“It is unfortunate that Uhuru is behind the ongoing divisions, sponsoring candidates against UDA aspirants, as witnessed in Isiolo where a UDA candidate was pitted against his own sister who contested on a Jubilee Party ticket. Despite the former winning, it was a bad show as it could trigger bad blood between the two. This is the kind of politics we want to shun,” he said.

He warned Uhuru against extending such political divisions to Western Kenya, saying the region supports President Ruto.

Malava MP David Ndakwa warned Malala against traversing Malava with the intention of spreading DCP propaganda.

“I am the Malava MP, and the voters here know they have leaders who can guide them. We will not allow you to come here and attack our voters,” he said.

Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa has agreed to offset the medical bills of voters injured during the West Kabras by-election.

“We know you are behind Edwin Sifuna’s faction, which you are sponsoring to spoil votes for Ruto, and we are aware of your plans to undermine the broad-based government for selfish gains,” Barasa said.

He termed it shameful for politicians to hire hitmen and goons to attack voters during an election period.

The governor called on security agencies to apprehend Malala over the alleged acts and warned that the broad-based government would not allow its supporters to be attacked and humiliated for exercising their democratic rights.

The ODM County Chairman assured the President that Kakamega is firmly behind him and will deliver 99 per cent of the vote to secure his second term.

He said the working partnership between ODM and UDA under the broad-based government, led by Oburu Odinga, fully supports the President’s re-election bid.

He dismissed the opposition, saying it has no chance of unseating Ruto as its leaders are driven by self-interest.

Barasa congratulated MCA-elect Elphas Shalakha and pledged to work closely with him at the county level.

Presidential aide Farouk Kibet called on the Mulembe community to support President Ruto’s second term in preparation for their turn in 2032.

“Kakamega Governor, please work closely with the President to bring leadership home. It is time for the Mulembe nation to ascend to power after the current leadership leaves office,” he said.

He added that the close working relationship between the Kalenjin and Luhya communities will enable the Mulembe people to ascend to power in future.
